Understand failure – Enables success

When I understand why I failed at something, I’m much more likely to succeed the next time I try.

One of my mentors, while discussing my plans for a career change said, ‘it doesn’t matter what you decide to do, but if you fail to identify, understand, and learn the lessons that you were meant to learn in your current career, you’ll continue to experience the same failures in your new endeavor until you learn your lessons.’ Then leaning over closer she continued, ‘so make certain you’ve learned your lessons!’

The next several months were spent in evaluation of my business, what I was doing and how I could improve. What things I needed to change and how I could start my new business “career” off right, avoiding the same mistakes.

I learned really quickly that I was failing because I was not following my passion. I wasn’t doing the things that brought me joy, I was simply chasing the next paycheck. And the new “career” I was about to dive into, was an opportunity to chase yet another paycheck.

As a result, I’ve improved my business, refocusing it on my passions; and I found a way to incorporate the other business I was pursing into what I was already doing. SUCCESS!

The biggest lesson you can learn is to follow your passions, live your desires, and do what makes you happy!
