Why Should Your Business Have A Website?

Small Business Website DesignThere are only 3 reasons why your business should have a website.

As a recommendation: if your website isn’t optimized for these 3 things, you need to make a change in 2013.

Improving your website in 2013 can help you grow your business smarter, and more efficiently.

1. Add Value to the Marketplace

This is the most important of the 3.

If you’re not using your website to educate, inform, and empower your target market, your market wont consider your business relevant.

The best way to do this is to make sure that you’re publishing fresh up-to-date content that helps your customers and prospects improve their lives and/or businesses.

Your audience drives the success of your business, so you need to produce the content they want.

I made this mistake in 2012 on my business development blog. I assumed my audience was interested in business development topics, however, what we discovered was that our primary audience was interested in my knowledge about WordPress and my recommendations for WordPress tools.

The mistake was to try to force the content I wanted to produce on my audience instead of giving them want they wanted!

2. Capture Leads

I think you would agree that you need to have a steady flow of leads to maintain your business.

Leads can range from a number of different results. A phone call, newsletter optin, free content download, or filling out the contact form on your site.

Obviously, you’re going to have a different definition of a “lead” based on your business and what you do.

However, regardless of your definition of a lead, if your website isn’t generating at lest 5-10 leads a month, you’re probably not making it easy enough or you’re not connecting with your audience.

3. Make Money – “Process Transactions”

Before you skip this section because you don’t “sell anything” on your website, lets rethink the term “process transactions”.

There are other transactions that don’t involve money.

For example:

A free download for a name and email address.

If you’re a real estate agent, you might require buyers and sellers to create a user account before they can access your property listings.

These “information transactions” are what lead to money transactions, if you know how to nurture them through the process.

Our philosophy is simple, your website should be your home-base. The one location your marketplace can learn about you, your company, your products or services, connect and engage with you, and ultimately do transactional business with you.
